Second Life
I have been roaming around the fantastic territories of Second Life for some weeks now.I have visited towns, residential areas, busy casinos, wild dance floors, shopping centers.
No doubt this game is a replica of Real Life... with the infinite possibility of stretching the limits of what is considered politically correct in Real Life.
Avatars have a life of their own, they tend to fulfill the needs for violence, agression, destruction, and love, tenderness,, a need for socializing in a society where nobody has any time...
They also fulfil the desire for beauty and perfection... there are no, cripples, no old, fat, ill or ugly avatars.... only ugly souls who feel like letting steam out ... here and there... and the wonderful teleportation facility which allows you to either get away from a tricky situation or join a friend in some paradise....
All the devils of RL are let loose in SL... the power of money, capitalism... but it is easy and painless to remain a tramp in SL...
The ideas of having a drink, smoking a joint and all the pleasures of life are there... with only one side effect... the feeling of having shared a cool drink.. and still feel thirsty..
Friendship is also another special state which can stem from SL on the condition you keep a certain respect for avatars because inside each superman or superwoman avatar lies a real soul. Trespassing the limits of violence or decency in SL echoes through a human soul somewhere and cannot be done with impunity.
SL is definitely not a game or a child's world. It is a place where exchanges of all kinds take place, remote but so closely linked to the real soul that they have to be handled with care.
There is nothing so pleasant as sharing experiences with a SL friend, despite the time zones, around a cool cocktail....alchemy also works on SL and one can become quite close to some friends... the problem is that limits between reality and dream are very hazy and both worlds interfere just like waves... and you wish someone goodnight as you go on with your day's work, on the other side of the globe, anti-clockwise and upside down.
And I dedicate this to a special Australian friend.
